ASUU strike: Nigerian authorities, lecturers meet tomorrow

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Tuesday agreed that it will honour invitation from the Federal Government to renew the suspended talks tomorrow on the on-going strike and its calls for.

ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, stated the union had obtained invitation for the assembly and can act accordingly.

Prof Ogunyemi stated: “Yes, we are in receipt of the invitation by government and will honour it.”

He, nonetheless, declined to talk extra on the difficulty.

Those anticipated at tomorrow’s assembly, apart ASUU delegation, embrace Minister of Education, Minister of Finance, Chairman, National Income Salaries and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC) and the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

The strike by ASUU entered the third week, even because the non tutorial employees unions are planning to down instruments over related points.

ASUU, SSANU, NAAT and NASU accused the federal authorities of non implementation of the 2009 signed agreements, in addition to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
